Calligrapher's Workshop - Film Screening
Mohamed Hammam, a retired calligrapher, likes to be surrounded by people, chatting, smoking
and sharing with them. He goes every day to his studio in Cairo to preserve "the youth of his soul."
He and his friends are observed through the lens of changes that shake Cairo.

April 2020: Mohamed Hammam has passed away. Despite the sadness, we keep remembering the joy this beloved figure among calligraphers was spreading by his presence. Therefore, this evening is a tribute both to the artist and to his craft.
The film will be presented by Aymon Kreil, Assistant Professor in the Departement for Languages and Cultures at Ghent University and the film's director Natalia Duque Quintero
