Lagrange Points is excited to invite Maher Hamoud and Koert Debeuf to talk about each other’s countries the way they understand them.
Maher Hamoud is an Egyptian political economist and an occasional lecturer at Belgian and other universities. He's the author of the well-received book"Chocolate Filling: Notes from under the Belgian Crust", published in late 2016, and he is a former editor-in-chief of the Cairo-based Daily News Egypt. He travelled intensively across Europe starting 2010, while keeping Cairo as his base, however, he thinks he might have settled in Belgium since 2014.
Koert Debeuf lived in Cairo from 2011 until 2016, where he worked as a representative of the liberal-democrats in the European Parliament. He traveled intensively through the region, from Tunis to Istanbul and Abu Dhabi to Aleppo. He published widely on the Middle East and North Africa in European, Arab and American newspapers.
In 2014 he bundled some of his articles in his book "The Arab Revolution. Three years on the Front Line of the Arab Spring", which appeared in Arabic in 2016. Since then he is Research Fellow at the universities of Oxford and Brussels. In 2019 he published his book "Tribalization. Why War is Coming". This book is also translated into Arabic and Japanese.
As the number of seats is limited, please message us to register.
